Blackstone Fried Rice is fast and simple. It's not only easy to make, but it's better than takeout - and more cost-effective, too. With just a few minutes needed on your flat top grill, everyone will love having their serving of fried rice to enjoy. Grab the chopsticks and dig in.

Fried rice is one of my favorite ways to use leftovers. Since rice isn't always the softest the next day, this easy fried rice recipe is the answer everyone has been waiting for. It's an excellent way to feed the kids, or a crowd, while also being able to add in some of your favorite veggies as well.

Using your Blackstone griddle to cook rice is also really fun. You'll feel like a chef as you scoop, flip, and make those rice mounds like they always do at your favorite hibachi restaurant.

You can easily serve this as a main dish or have it as a side option to pair with chicken breast or any other main entree you want. Minimal calories with a good amount of fiber. Sounds like a winning recipe to me.

Speaking of easy recipes, be sure to check out this Blackstone Philly Cheesesteak for an awesome main meal.

    Ingredients

Vegetable oil - Coconut oil or avocado oil could be used as well. Sesame oil is another great option.

Cooked rice - For this Blackstone fried rice recipe to work, cooked rice is a must. You can use white rice, jasmine rice, brown rice, or any other type of rice.

Onion - Slice thinly for the best texture.

Mushrooms - I like using white mushrooms for this recipe.

Soy sauce - You can also use low-sodium soy sauce.

Garlic - Minced garlic is the best flavor.

Green onions - Chop and mix on or add as a garnish.

How to make Blackstone Fried Rice

You'll love the flavor of this gluten-free dish that is a great recipe to put good use to your flat top griddle.

Step One: Preheat the griddle for 15 minutes on medium-high heat.

Step Two: Add 2 tablespoons of oil, and then add rice. Spread it in a thin layer.

Step Three: Add the onions and the garlic, and cook until golden.

Step Four: Crack the egg onto the side of the griddle, and scramble and flip the egg once it’s mostly cooked. Chop it up.

Step Five: Flip the rice. (The bottom of the rice should be golden brown)

Step Six: Mix everything, and then add the soy sauce. Toss it and stir it a few times.

Step Seven: Serve and garnish. You can either put it all into one large serving bowl or move individual servings into smaller bowls right from the Blackstone.

    Variations

Add sesame seeds - For extra flavor and crunch, add sesame seeds on top or mix into the Blackstone fried rice.

Add more veggies - You can easily add frozen peas, bell pepper, carrots, broccoli, zucchini, or any other fresh vegetables that you want to add. Be sure to chop and dice them up and cook them on the Blackstone grill.

Add protein - Chicken fried rice sounds pretty good! You can add chicken thighs or other chicken meat and make Blackstone chicken fried rice. You can also use shrimp as well. Any meat is going to pair well with white rice. We have a recipe for Blackstone chicken fried rice also.

Lower the salt content - You can swap out the soy sauce and use coconut aminos as well. It's great for soaking into cold rice, leftover fried rice, and works as a great substitute. For a gluten-free option Tamari soy sauce is also normally gluten-free.

Add fresh ginger - Once you're frying up the rice, adding in some fresh ginger adds a heaping of flavor. If you don't have fresh ginger you can use a bit of ginger juice or ginger powder.

    Common Questions

What is the easiest way to cook rice?

I normally cook rice in my Instant Pot. I use the rice setting, a 1:1 ratio of rice to water, cook for 10 minutes, and let the pressure release naturally.

    Can I use leftover rice?

Absolutely. If you have rice in an airtight container from a previous meal, it's perfect to use. Day-old rice works great and won't be dry once you add in the ingredients. However, if the rice seems very dry mix in a bit of boiling water before you begin.

Leftover rice or freshly cooked and cooled rice will both work just fine.

How do I change the taste of fried rice?

Adding some seasonings and a little bit of salt can go a long way. You can also melt some butter on the griddle and stir it into the rice with a spatula for a quick extra burst of flavor.

Mixing the beaten eggs into the rice can be a great way to change the taste, too. Sprinkle on a bit of garlic powder, and you're set!

Can I make fried rice on the stovetop?

You can. You can actually make this recipe in a wok, fry it up in a skillet, or even use the Instant Pot to cook the rice and then fry it up on the griddle.

The instructions below are for your Blackstone griddle, but there are many options to consider and use.
