My name is Paul. I am married to Taryn and together we have six wonderful kids.
Growing up, I was the second child, of seven. I am the oldest boy in the family and I spent a lot of time working with my dad in the family business. However, on Sundays after church, I would get a chance to help cook breakfast. I loved making eggs and hash browns. That's when I first began to enjoy cooking.
As I entered my teen years, I became the griller in the family. I would grill hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and chicken for dinners and weekend BBQs. After high school, I moved out and lived with a bunch of other young guys while I attended Rutgers. I became the "Food Dude". My household responsibility was food shopping and meal planning for the 10+ guys I was living with. I liked trying new recipes and even making up a few of my own.
When Taryn and I got married, we both enjoyed cooking and trying new foods. I was working in banking and I had a diverse group of employees. For team meetings and celebrations, we would turn them into potlucks and I was able to try so many different various cuisines and dishes that I had never thought to try before. I am not a classicly trained or professional chef, but I am a home cook who loves to make great dishes. I feel successful when I put a dish in front of a family member or friend and they feel loved as they enjoy the dish. Ask Taryn, when we have guests coming over, I want to create a menu that will show them that I know them. I know what they like, and I literally, cater, to who they are and what they enjoy. One of the best feelings is when I see someone enjoy a dish that I made.
I got the inspiration to start a food blog after supporting my wife with her blog, Joy Filled Eats, and attending a blogging conference with her. I thought we should focus on a resource that showcases grilling and smoking year-round. On the plane ride home, we came up with the name, A Grill for All Seasons, I thought, let's start a blog where I can help other people uncover their inner "Food Dude".
