Hot Honey Grilled Chicken is one of my favorite chicken recipes. It's the perfect blend of spices, resulting in flavorful chicken in every bite. Once you make this simple dinner, it's going to be one of those recipes you'll keep making again and again.

Everyone in my family gets excited when these hot honey chicken thighs are on the menu. What I like about this dish is that each piece of cooked chicken has just the right amount of spice. Nothing too hot, but just a hint of that spicy flavor that I love.
It's also great that there's no super-long chicken marinade needed. Just mix the seasonings in a small bowl, coat the chicken, and cook. You'll be eating in minutes!

Ingredients
- Boneless skinless chicken thighs - Perfect texture and base for this dish.
- Onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, kosher salt, black pepper - The seasonings used to flavor the chicken.
- Hot honey - Gives the chicken that pop of heat. Depending on the brand, the heat level can vary quite a bit.
See recipe card for quantities.

How to Make Hot Honey Grilled Chicken
Preheat the grill to medium-high.

Step One: Mix all of the seasonings in a bowl. Add the chicken and toss to coat fully.

Step Two: Put the coated chicken on the grill grates and cook for 8-10 minutes per side.

Step Three: Baste with the hot honey and then grill for another minute. If you are concerned about the honey falling through the grates, you can transfer the chicken onto a piece of foil.

Step Four: Take off the grill. As the chicken rests, brush or drizzle with more hot honey.
Top tip
To make sure that the chicken is cooked, use a meat thermometer to test the internal temperature of the chicken before removing it from the grill. The internal temperature should read at least 160 degrees.
Variations
- Honey - There are actually a lot of different types of hot honey to use. See what you like best and experiment.
- Chicken breasts - This dish can be done using other cuts of chicken, such as boneless skinless chicken breasts.
- Spice rub - You can mix and match flavors of the spice rub. Adding chili powder or red pepper flakes is another option to take this spicy honey chicken to another level of heat.
See this Honey Sriracha Sauce for another sauce option to try.

Storage
Once the cooked chicken is cooled to room temperature, store leftovers in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge. You can then reheat in the microwave and serve. Or just enjoy them cold right from the refrigerator. I tend to do this for lunch the next day.
Leftovers also freeze well. Just add to the freezer and save them for later. This is a good idea for meal prep and to cut down on time and food waste.

Common Questions
You have plenty of great options. You can slice and eat the pieces just as they are, or top a nice green, leafy salad with the pieces. We love them on a salad with some avocado, red onion, cilantro, and lime juice. You can also make it the main entree to your dinner, and pair it with grilled corn or grilled asparagus.
Absolutely. You coat each chicken thigh individually, so leave off the hot honey or use regular honey on a few to make them mild.
Depending on who you ask, you'll likely get different answers. I think that letting the chicken rest for about 10 minutes before cutting into it makes it the most flavorful and juicy. I typically use this time to prep the other side dishes or set the table. That way, I'm not just staring at the chicken and hoping for the time to pass more quickly.
You likely cooked it too long. It is harder to overcook thighs than breasts, but still possible.
