Ingredients
- Shrimp - We used tail-off medium shrimp. But any type of shrimp works for this recipe.
- Garlic cloves - Great for adding flavor.
- Olive oil - A staple for griddle recipes. We used lemongrass & basil flavored olive oil but plain olive oil is fine.
- Fresh basil - For added flavor.
- Lemon wedges - To squeeze over the top of the cooked shrimp.
- Salt
- Black Pepper
See recipe card for quantities.

How to Make Blackstone Shrimp
Preheat the Blackstone to 350 degrees.

Step One: Add the garlic and half of the olive oil to the hot griddle. Cook the garlic until it starts to brown.

Step Two: Add the remaining olive oil, salt, and pepper to the shrimp for seasoning. Add the shrimp and ½ of the basil.

Step Three: Cook the shrimp for 1-2 minutes on each side until it is opaque, pink, and the edges are curled.

Step Four: Squeeze on some fresh lemon juice. Transfer the cooked shrimp to a serving plate. Top with the rest of the basil.
Top tip
If you are going to use smaller shrimp, the cooking time is likely going to be less. Just pay attention to the coloring of the shrimp and watch for the edges to curl.
Substitutions
- Minced garlic - Instead of using loved garlic, minced garlic works fine. It will cook faster though so add with the shrimp, not before.
- Limes - Lime wedges work just as well as lemon wedges.
Variations
- Seasonings - Feel free to use seasonings other than those listed on the printable recipe card. Options like garlic powder, onion powder, Old Bay seasoning, cajun seasoning, and even regular soy sauce are great options.
- Add fresh vegetables - You can easily turn the cooked succulent shrimp into a whole new recipe by adding fresh veggies to the griddle and cooking them.
- Avocado oil - Swap this in and use it in place of the olive oil.

Equipment
New recipes like this are easy. All you need is a Blackstone griddle and tongs/spatula. I also make sure that I have my serving platter close and handy so that I can take the cooked shrimp off the heat right when they are done cooking.
Storage
Save those shrimp leftovers for the next day. Once the cooked shrimp have cooled, store them in an airtight container and keep them in the fridge. You can also add them to a freezer-safe container and freeze for later, too.
To reheat, simply add the shrimp to a cast-iron skillet or small pan and reheat low and slow on the stove. I'll add some salted butter to the pan while I'm reheating it for a burst of flavor. Be sure that you don't overheat, or the shrimp will be tough and chewy.

Common Questions
Absolutely. You can pick any kind of fresh or frozen shrimp for this recipe. I like to keep it simple and pick shrimp that is already devained and detailed, but that is totally up to you. If using frozen shrimp you do need to thaw it first.
For shrimp to be cooked and safe to eat, the internal temperature reading should be at least 145 degrees. The easiest way to get an accurate reading is to use a meat thermometer to test the inside of the shrimp.
Yes, you can! You can pair this simple recipe with fried rice, white rice, a simple side salad, and anything else that you want. Cooked shrimp is extremely versatile in how it can be served and eaten.
