    What is Bourbon Cream?

Bourbon cream is a cocktail that combines Bourbon, milk, cream, condensed milk, and vanilla. You can easily make a large batch ahead of time. Just store it in the refrigerator and you have a great cocktail to serve at a moment's notice. The first time I had a Bourbon Cream, it was from the Buffalo Trace Distillery. One sip and I was hooked. I usually had a bottle of Irish Cream in the house, but I found the bourbon cream to be much more flavorful. I also find bourbon to be more flavorful than Irish whiskey, so it made sense to me. Now, this recipe is not a Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream copycat recipe. I actually like the flavor of mine better.

What are the ingredients for Homemade Bourbon Cream?

There are only five simple ingredients.

Bourbon Whiskey - Now, do not use your most expensive favorite bourbon. I have found that there are some great inexpensive bourbons that I enjoy. It is really personal preference. The key is to use one of those. I use Evan Williams Bottled-in-Bond 100 Proof Bourbon. It has a great bourbon flavor with a strong burn on the finish. The cream helps balance that out while still allowing the taste of bourbon to come through. I also like to take a shot of bourbon as I make this. You know, to make sure the bourbon tastes good.

Whole Milk and Heavy Cream - Even amounts of real cream and whole milk give you a perfect balance of flavor and texture. The real dairy cream is what makes the drink so creamy.

Condensed Milk - This is our sweetness. You do not need simple syrup. We use a whole can of condensed milk, so that is why this drink is best made in a large batch. You will be able to refrigerate it for up to 7 days after you make it.

Vanilla Extract - The vanilla just gives it a hint of vanilla, but more importantly, helps to pull all the flavors together. And that is it.

    How to make Bourbon Cream

Step One - Combine bourbon cream ingredients. You can do this two ways. You can either combine everything into a large bowl or a blender. I like to use the blender because it is much easier to pour and serve the bourbon cream.

Step Two - Mix the ingredients until well combined. In the blender, I run it on low for about 10 seconds, that is all you need. If you are doing this in a large bowl, use a whisk to mix for about 30 seconds. It is then ready to serve.

    How to Store Bourbon Cream

Store Bourbon Cream in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. I recommend a mason jar or a pitcher with a lid. It can keep in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

    How to serve Bourbon Cream

The easiest way to serve this delicious beverage is in chilled in a couple or shot glasses or in a rocks glass over ice. That's it! If you want to get fancy, you could hit it with some whipped cream.

You can serve this rich cream liqueur in a martini glass. Just stir it in a cocktail mixing glass with some ice, then strain it into a chilled martini glass.

Additionally, you can use this as a creamer in your hot chocolate or hot coffee. It makes for a perfect dessert beverage.

This can also be a topping over vanilla ice cream.
