Ingredients
- Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur - We enjoy this brand and have had great results with it but another brand of coffee liqueur should be fine.
- Espresso - We have a Nespresso espresso machine, so making a shot of espresso is easy. You can also use a stovetop espresso maker or make very strong brewed coffee.
- Vodka - You can use your own personal preference brand or pick an infused vodka as well. Vanilla vodka is excellent in this.
- Heavy cream - Heavy whipping cream adds a creamy texture and fun look. To lighten this up sub in half and half or light cream.
- Ice Cubes - To chill the drink.

How to Make a Creamy Espresso Martini
Step One: Start by adding ice cubes to the martini glasses, and then pour in the cold brew coffee. You could use a coupe glasses as well. If you have freezer room, feel free to chill the glasses ahead of time.

Step Two: Add the coffee to the cocktail glass, followed by a shot of the vodka.

Step Three: Stir and then pour in the heavy cream. Garnish with coffee beans, if desired. Enjoy every sip of your Mr. Black espresso martini!

Variations
- Change the alcohol - While I'm a fan of adding Grey Goose vodka, you can add anything that you like. There is always Kahlua coffee liqueur that you can add to make Bailey's espresso martini, or you can even add some Irish whiskey.
- Add toppings - Don't forget to add some toppings to the top of your cocktail! You can add a foamy top of whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or even drizzle some fudge sauce or caramel sauce on top to make it more of a dessert cocktail. Adding a few espresso beans on top looks great, too.
- Cold brew coffee - If you don't have an espresso machine, you can use strong coffee instead. In a pinch, instant espresso powder works.
- Creamy liqueur - You can skip the heavy whipping cream and double up on the alcohol if you want. Just swirl in some Bailey's Irish Cream liqueur, Kahlua, or another creamy cordial you enjoy.
- Sweetness - Most coffee liquor is sweetened, but you can add simple syrup if you like.

Common Questions
Can I make and use my own coffee mixture?
You can! If you grind your own coffee beans and want to make your own coffee from an espresso machine, go for it. You could also use Instant coffee to save time.
The great thing about this classic espresso martini is that it's versatile in how it can be made. This perfect drink can be made with a purchased cold brew concentrate or use what you have at home.
You can even make a decaf espresso martini if you want that same creamy texture without any of the added caffeine. This would be a great option for a delicious espresso martini with less caffeine for those late-night cocktails.
Do I need to use a cocktail shaker?
Nope, not at all. You aren't supposed to shake martinis at all. We just learned that recently. They are traditionally stirred and not shaken.
You can add everything right to the glass and stir - it's as simple as that. That's the beauty of making this simple fresh espresso drink.
