Just three simple ingredients are all that is needed to make this Chili Cheese Cream Cheese Dip. This simple snack is the perfect appetizer for game day or a great way to make an easy dip recipe for weekend snacking.

The best part about making this 3-ingredient chili cheese dip is that it's ready fast and full of flavor. I've made it for the big game, and was lucky enough to have some leftover to snack on the next day. Pair with some Fritos scoops or put on top of hot dogs - both options are great.
You can also use any leftover homemade chili instead of canned chili for an even better flavor and taste. If your mouth is watering and you're ready to make this chili dip, now is the perfect time to get started.

Ingredients
- Cream cheese - I use full-fat cream cheese, but lower-fat content would still work fine.
- Colby Jack cheese - Be sure that it's shredded so it melts faster.
- Chili - I prefer to use leftover homemade chili. You can use 1 can of any type of chili instead. Try this with our Venison Chili or Smoked Chili for an amazing app!

How to Make Chili Cheese Cream Cheese Dip
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Step One: Spread the cream cheese in a pie plate. Top the cream cheese with 1 cup of shredded cheese.

Step Two: Spread the chili out over the top. Add any desired seasonings.

Step Three: Cover with the remaining cheese.

Step Four: Put the pie plate into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until it is hot and bubbly. Serve with crackers or chips.
Top tip
If you want to make this dip spicy, you can also mix in a little bit of hot sauce or cayenne pepper. Just be aware that a little bit will go a long way.
Substitutions
- Cheese - The great thing about this dip is that you can swap out the cheese for other types. Pepper jack cheese, sharp cheddar, or even Mexican blend would all work just fine.
Variations
- Toppings - You can add other fun toppings to this chili cheese dip. Green chilis, green onions, chopped fresh jalapenos - all good options.

Equipment
You only need a few simple supplies to make this tasty dip. A glass pie plate and a spatula for spreading are really all that you'll need. I told you that this recipe was easy.
Storage
If you're not able to eat all the dip in one sitting, you can easily store the leftovers for later. Be sure that you store any dip leftovers in an airtight container and keep it stored in the fridge.
For the best results, eat the leftover dip within 1-2 days.
Due to cream cheese being the main ingredient, freezing isn't recommended. Just make it fresh and enjoy.

Common Questions
Don't stress out. You can still make a form of the dip, even if you don't have chili. Adding cooked chicken or beef on top is super yummy and a great way to get that added protein easily.
You can also go totally meat-free and just let the cheeses be the star of the show.
In my opinion, this chili cheese dip recipe is best served warm and fresh. You can prepare it and then wait to pop it into the oven until it's closer to serving time, but I wouldn't do any more prep work than that.
I love salty tortilla chips. Crackers and toasted bread are also a winning combo.
And remember, this doesn't have to be a dip. You can use it as a topping for hot dogs and make the most epic chili cheese dog there is.
It needs to be bubbly and hot to be served, so that is your indicator. All that you have to do is make sure that it's heated all the way through before serving, and you're good to go!
