How to Make Onion Soup Mix Potatoes
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Add nonstick cooking spray to a 9X13-inch baking pan.

Step One: Add all the ingredients to a large bowl.

Step Two: Mix well. Let the mixture rest for 5 minutes.

Step Three: Place onto the baking sheet and put into the oven.

Step Four: Roast for 40 minutes, and stir every 10 minutes or until the potatoes are golden brown, tender, and crispy.
Top tip
You can use less oil and a bit more water if you want. The oil does help to crisp the potatoes, but it can be adjusted in terms of how much is used. For the best results, I use the amount listed on the recipe card.
Substitutions
- Potatoes - There are options when it comes to potatoes. You can use Russet potatoes, Yukon Golds, waxy potatoes, and even sweet potatoes for this recipe.
- Oil - Vegetable oil or olive oil can be used.
Variations
- Seasonings - In addition to, or to replace the packet of onion soup mix, you could also season the potatoes with kosher salt and black pepper, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne powder, or anything else that you are craving.

Equipment
To make these Lipton onion roasted potatoes, you'll need to have a mixing bowl, sheet pan or casserole dish, spoon, measuring cups, and parchment paper for easy clean up. (optional)
Storage
It's so easy to store leftover potatoes if you're lucky enough to have some! Let the potatoes cool down completely, then add any remaining potatoes to an airtight container. Keep them stored in the fridge and reheat in the oven or microwave to eat.
You can technically freeze the leftovers, but I recommend eating them fresh as freezing does alter the texture and can make them dry.

Common Questions
Absolutely. Another dry soup mix would work as long as it is just seasonings (and doesn't contain things like rice, beans, or pasta). Or try a dressing packet like ranch or Italian. French onion soup mix would be another great option and a fun way to change the flavor. I tend to stick with a packet of dry onion soup mix, but you whip up these potatoes the best way for your taste buds.
Although I haven't done it before, you can. The key is to not overcrowd the air fryer basket, and to also cook the potatoes long enough to get them crispy and golden brown. You'll need to add a little oil, but it should be an easy cooking transition from the oven to the air fryer.
Anything. You can pair these potatoes with any type of grilled entree, from chicken to steak, or any other dish that goes well with potatoes. Who knew that adding a packet of dry onion soup mix would open a flurry of options and pairings?
