All you need are three ingredients to make this Rosemary Simple Syrup. Kick up classic simple syrup with the wonderful flavor of rosemary. Homemade rosemary syrup is a great way to enhance drinks and cocktail recipes in a new way.

If you're a fan of rosemary flavor, it's time to make your own simple syrup to capitalize on that. There are so many ways to use fresh herbs, and this is one of my favorites.
Once you make this recipe using three simple ingredients, you'll love and enjoy the herbal flavor! You can add this to hot tea, coffee drinks, ice cube trays, or any cocktail recipe as well. (and yes - even non-alcoholic drinks, too!)

Ingredients
- Sugar - Adds sweetness to the syrup. I use white sugar, but some people do want to use brown sugar instead.
- Boiling water - You can use a small saucepan to boil the water. The water will need to boil in order to dissolve the sugar.
- Fresh rosemary - If you don't have an herb garden, any well-stocked grocery store should have fresh rosemary.

How to Make Rosemary Simple Syrup

Step One: Put the water in a small or medium saucepan. Bring to a boil. Add the sugar and rosemary. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Let the mixture rest for at least 15 minutes.

Step Two: Strain out the chopped rosemary. Pour into a mason jar or an airtight container until use.
Top tip
You can make a lighter or stronger flavor by adding more or less rosemary. The steeping time will also vary the intensity.
Variations
- Lemon juice - Add a little bit of citrus to your syrup recipe with some fresh lemon juice or lemon zest. Lime also works well. We use lime in our Rosemary Gimlet.
- Maple syrup - Use maple syrup in place of the sugar for a natural sweetener.
- Sugar-free - You can also use a 1:1 sugar-free sweetener of your choice if you don't want to use sugar.

Equipment
All you need to make this simple syrup recipe is a saucepan, measuring cup, and fine mesh strainer.
Storage
Once you have cooled syrup, you can store the mixture at room temperature or in the fridge. My favorite way to store it until I'm ready for use is by adding the syrup to a glass jar. As long as it's sealed, you can use any type of storage method you want.

Common Questions
That's totally up to you. I'm all about adding new flavors to various dishes and drinks, so I think that there are a ton of options. You can make a stellar rosemary cocktail, add a hint of rosemary flavor to cold drinks and cold beverages, or add a pop of flavor to any hot drink. You can also add it as a topping for ice cream!
I see no issue with making this and storing it for later. You might have to give it a stir or shake before use if it's settled a bit, but it should be perfectly fine to store and use as you want.
Absolutely. The great thing about making your own syrup is that you can switch in and out what you want and make fun new flavors.
