Traeger smores just might become your newest obsession for easy recipes on the Traeger grill. The warm grill grates help to create the perfect gooey dessert with a hint of smoke flavor. Find out how to make smoked smores the easy way on your pellet grill.
If you have a sweet tooth, this is the best recipe that will have you enjoying that flavor fast. Not only can you make this easily for a quick trick at the end of a long night, but you can also make this for a group of friends who might be over hanging out during the summer months. Even the kids will agree that this is a super cool treat for a birthday party or just to share with friends.
Since you just need a handful of simple ingredients to get that smoky flavor, you really can't go wrong. The way that the heat melts those chocolate bars on the flat surface really does make these smoked smores quite the easy dessert. In my opinion, this is so much better than cooking large marshmallows over an open fire! Less mess while still getting those gooey marshmallows and melted milk chocolate.

Ingredients
Graham Crackers - You can also get graham crackers that are flavored as well with honey or cinnamon sugar. We've even made this using chocolate graham crackers.
Marshmallows - Large marshmallows work best so that when they're smooshed down after warming up, their gooey insides spread and cover the entire perimeter of the crackers.
Chocolate - Pick your favorite type of chocolate or chocolate candy bar to use. Hershey's is always a top choice, but there are many others. We used our homemade Smoked Chocolate for double the smoky flavor!
How to Make Smoked Smores
Step One: Start by preheating the smoker to 250 degrees. Add two graham cracker squares to a sheet of aluminum foil.
Step Two: Top with one marshmallow and put in the smoker for 2 minutes.
Step Three: Top the second graham cracker half with a piece of chocolate and put it in the smoker for an additional 3 minutes.
Step Four: Once done, sandwich the two together to make the ultimate smore.
Variations
Use dark chocolate - You can easily use any choice of chocolate to make this sweet treat. As you know, candy bars are an easy option as well to break apart and use. If you don't have a bar of chocolate, you can use chocolate chips and place those carefully on top of the graham cracker halves. Just be careful not to have any spill-off and go to waste.
Make smores cookies - Another fun twist is that instead of using graham crackers for this treat, you can use two cookies and then mash them together to make the ultimate dessert. We've used chocolate-covered cookies before and then just placed a marshmallow in the middle, and while it might be kind of messy, it's also a lot of fun.
Make a Traeger s'mores cones recipe - Just add some miniature marshmallows, graham cracker crumbs, and pieces of chocolate into a cone, and smoke it for a few minutes to make this funny and addictive dessert.
Common Questions
Can I make this smores dessert in the oven?
You can. You can use the same process to make this in a cast-iron skillet, or the oven as well. I like to use the smoker because it adds a fun and unique smoked flavor. If you don't want to use that or don't have the option to use that, you can use almost any type of appliance that will produce heat to melt the chocolate. Even a microwave would work in a pinch.
Can I make smores in advance?
You really can't because the gooeyness of the marshmallows is key to the dish. That's the one thing about marshmallows. If you heat them and let them cool down to room temperature, they will have a different texture and become stiff and hard to eat. They're still delicious, but they just won't have the texture that we're all familiar with when it comes to smores.
What can I use instead of graham crackers?
I know that the classic smore uses graham crackers, but as I mentioned above, you can use cookies, or even saltine crackers would be great, too. The flavor combination of the sweet and salty could create a dessert that everyone loves.
The only way to know what to use when it comes to changing the smoked smores is to make it and then try it. (and then be sure to come back and tell me so that I can make it and enjoy it, too.)
