Smoked Chocolate is the sweet treat that you didn't know you needed! That smoke flavor paired with the chocolate chips creates the perfect dessert! Perfect for enjoying other types of desserts or eating as it is!

sliced smoked chocolate bar with pecans

Who new that you could smoke a lot of chocolate and end up with results like this? The first time I tried this recipe, I knew it was a hit. Not only does the smoky flavor come through in each chocolate bite, but it's a great addition to literally making the best cookies. I've used this recipe is chocolate chip cookies, and the sweetness of the cookie paired with the smokiness of the chocolate creates the perfect chocolate chip cookie - I swear!

You can also add this to the top of ice cream, or just break off a piece or two and pop it right into your mouth. I've had years of experience of using my smoker, and I just can't get over the depth of flavor of this simple dish.

No matter if you want to add some of this to make the best chewy chocolate chip cookie recipe or just want to try something new, you're going to love the outcome. This really is the best way to smoke chocolate!

We've been working on a recipe for smoked cookies that will be coming soon! They are a great choice for another sweet treat.

Step Three: Put the pan on the smoker and smoke for 2 hours. You can use an 8x8 pan and a whole 12 ounce bag of chocolate if you want to.

Step Four: Stir in the salt and then chill until the melted chocolate becomes firm.

    Variations

Add sweetness - If you are worried that this smoked chocolate won't be as sweet as you want it to be, you can sprinkle in a tad bit of brown sugar or white sugar. Don't go overboard with it, because too much will make it too sweet.

Use another type of chocolate chip - Try smoking milk chocolate chips or white chocolate chips.

Add nuts - This is optional, but you can top with crushed pecans or walnuts or even mix them in after the 2 hours on the smoker are done. You can also add rice Krispies or other textures that you're craving, too.

Add vanilla extract - If you are going to eat this as is, adding a few drops of vanilla adds a great flavor.

    Common Questions

How long will it take for the melted chocolate to firm up?

Since you're putting it in the freezer and not on a cooling rack, you should start to see it becoming firm within 30-60 minutes.

How do I use smoked chocolate?

There are so many ways that you can use this recipe! You can use it to make s'mores cookies, chewy cookies, or add it to any typical cookie recipe. You can add some of the chocolate to a cup of hot cocoa or hot chocolate or even use it in homemade mole sauce for that chocolate savory flavor.

Adding it to cookie dough takes the place of other chocolate chip needs and really makes for a great flavor.

This also makes a great gift to add to delicious and edible gift baskets. People are unaware that smoking chocolate is really simple to do, and they will love your gesture and the fact that you are sharing and gifting this to them.

How do I store leftover chocolate?

You just need an airtight container to store any leftover chocolate. You can also keep it at room temperature, as there is no need to have to store it in the fridge. This chocolate will stay good for quite some time, which is great because it gives you a chance to use it.

I store mine in the same area as the rest of my baking supplies, so that way, the next time that I need it or want to use it, it's handy and within reach. It's also handy to grab a bite and break it off to snack on it, too.

What if my chocolate gets stuck to the pan?

This is where using the disposable loaf pan works so well. You can take a butter knife and rubber spatula and run around the edges and bottom to remove as much of the smoked chocolate as possible, but there still might be some that sticks. Just get as much as you can off the pan, and that just has to be good enough. If you are really wanting it all, you can reheat the pan on the grill again and then use that melted chocolate to drizzle over ice cream.
