Put the pecans in the pie crust. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour the mixture into the pie shell over the pecans.
Optional: decorate the top with pecan halves.
Smoke until the filling is set, 75-90 minutes.
Remove from the smoker.
Place the pie into an oven preheated to 400. Bake for 10-15 minutes on the bottom rack until the crust looks browned. It helps to use a glass pie plate so you can check the color.
Optional: Move to the top rack and broil for 1-2 minutes for more browning of crust and pecans. We like our pie to end up golden brown with a crispy crust.
